From my early days in stage lighting with local bands, once I learned something new I was always looking for the next thing I could learn and make work in my lighting. From getting to a club early to help the crew load in and find out how they had wired 4 28 volt aircraft landing lights in series to work in stage lighting fixtures to why they were using certain color filters and how they were distributing power evenly. This continuing education continues in my outdoor landscape lighting, from meeting the founder of Nightscaping in early 2001 when I was seeking to do my own outdoor landscape lighting at my home in Raleigh to the 2019 conference wt Garden light in Tampa ,to my membership in the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals I am always seeking to learn the best newest techniques from connectors to lamps and integrated outdoor landscape lighting fixtures and control methods to give my clients the best available in the professional landscape lighting. Lite Visions,we stand behind our designs and installs because lighting is our passion, not just something we do.
One of the concert lighting companies I worked with in the mid 90s was Bandit Lights in Nashville. Bandit had a rich history and I had been calling and sending in a resume for a few years. In 1993 as I was just starting a huge tour I called home from my Miami hotel suite to check in with my mom and had a message from a friend at Bandit,he said call they want you to come in and talk about a tour.I went to Knoxville and spoke with the owner and soon went out on the first tour with Dan Fogelberg as the lighting technician. That tour ended and I got a call back in NC could I go out and do a Christmas tour with the Oak Ridge Boys. A little after Christmas I got a call asking if I would thing about relocating to Nashville to work on a tour with a new country artist Alan Jackson on his first headline tour. Nashville turned out to be a nice place and you run into so many artists while at the Kroger shopping. We did a songwriter award show at the Ryman auditorium and not being so country music aware,a nice gentleman came back by my dimmer area side stage and asked if he could sit back there with me . a few minutes later my boss from Bandit called me on the headset and said,Joe how do you know Vince Gill 🙂
I did a few weekend gigs with our account at the time WWF wrestling which carried a huge lighting production,I have to say there is nothing more humorous than fogging up the Undertakers coffin so another wrestler could break it up with an axe during a backstage cutaway scene.
Probably my most memorable tours were with Billy Ray Cyrus who we got to see go from headlining arenas to going down to just one truck to playing casinos. The other side of the coin was being a part of a country tour where Tim Mcgraw was opening for Little Texas with Blackhawk opening, seemed like overnight don’t take the girl came out we did a video shoot and bam suddenly people knew the words and sang it louder than Tim did,we watched Tim turn into the headline act and it could have not happened to a nicer guy.

EXHIBITOR SPOTLIGHT: LITE VISIONS LANDSCAPE LIGHTING
Dec 23, 2019, 16:11 PM
We’re excited to announce that Lite Visions Landscape Lighting Inc is a sponsor of the 2020 Downtown Raleigh Home Show, happening January 24-26, 2020 at the Raleigh Convention Center. You can find this innovative landscape lighting company at booth #1132 at the show. Before you visit them, enjoy our brief interview with Joseph Yanulevich.
What are your best home or garden tips for this season?
Make sure if you hire an outdoor landscape lighting designer that they are not using cheap Chinese lighting fixtures or low-quality transformers that you yourself can buy online or at a big box store. I have replaced several of these lighting installations and some of the fixtures were falling apart.
What are your featured items this season? (sales, popular services, show specials, etc.)
The most popular item is our FREE annual maintenance contact, where we come out and re-adjust your lighting if needed as well as cleaning fixtures and checking timers. We also give a 3-year guarantee on our installations above and beyond any manufacturer warranty. No One else will give you that kind of guarantee.
What are your home or garden pet peeves?
Bad outdoor lighting, I recently did a beautiful new home in Hastentree in Wake Forest. The couple asked to drive thru the neighborhood and look at the lighting they liked. After riding thru and looking with them I can’t believe how many bad lighting designs we all saw. Lighting design is about proper knowledge of color temperature as well as beam spreads and wattage. There is nothing that looks worse than a beautiful crepe myrtle lit with a too-white light making it look unnatural. Also, wasting lighting on such trees as pine trees.
What is the strangest client request you’ve ever received?
Probably the email from a person requesting me to install a cheap Chinese fixture package that they bought themselves online.I would never do that because I have to stand behind my work for a long time. Lite Visions does not cut corners on installations or use inferior lighting equipment.
Any additional company info you’d like to include?

We want your lights to keep looking like the day we installed them. We get so many word-of-mouth referrals and even have some customers invite friends over to see their lighting the first night we turn them on. We are a member of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals. Please check out our google reviews.

A typical evening lighting demonstration for Lite Visions consists of myself arriving at my clients home an hour or so before dusk to set up some lighting and then waiting for dusk to call the clients to come out after touching up a few fixtures.
This isn’t a Clark Griswold moment. It is a real life moment several times a week. Walking onto their porch to gaze out at what they can now see thru their window to the back yard.
It’s a different kind of wow, with subtle lights illuminating plants’ structure, texture and color. The landscape takes on a new dimension when lighting is properly placed and expertly installed. The homes architecture seems to come to life as the sun sets.
Then after settling on the total design and setting a date the real install happens. I have had clients invite their friends and neighbors over to see not only the demo but to wait with anticipation for the first night of the outdoor lighting to be turned on. Sometimes even sitting around the fire pit with wine.
What I’ve found with my clients is, lighting is contagious with them as well as their friends and neighbors.
Once we light up the front of the house, they want to light up the back or the sides, or the entry or tree that they love. Then the neighbors want outdoor lighting as well after looking over at how great their next door neighbors backyard now looks from their deck.
Landscape lighting technology has evolved significantly in the last five to seven years. More recently the availability of cost-effective LED lighting makes operating landscape lights efficient and easy on the wallet.
LED lights, they’re not going to have to change a bulb for 30,000 to 50,000 hours, and they’re happy about that
Clients who would have possibly only wanted lighting from dusk to midnight are now able to leave their outdoor lighting on all evening with no electricity bill concerns.

Lite Visions landscape lighting proudly designs and installs american made outdoor lighting fixtures and transformers. we install only the best outdoor landscape lighting fixtures and transformers available to the outdoor lighting professional and this makes it possible are to really stand behind our installations. Using cheap inferior Chinese products might make us more profit, but in the long run we prefer to give the client better Value and not have to unnecessarily return to the job site.
On a low voltage lighting system the low voltage transformer is the heart and soul of the system, feeding and regulating proper current to the lighting fixtures .
The 2nd most important item in the system is that the LED lamps have proper heat syncs to allow heat in their enclosed lighting fixture to be at a minimum, some cheap inferior LED lamps DO NOT ALLOW PROPER COOLING and operate at temperatures that might cause early lamp failures.
The LED lamps Lite Visions installs have been tested over and over in the field and operate at much cooler temperatures than their competition.
Lite Visions also builds value by using some of the best water tight connections in the outdoor lighting industry to help avoid problems arising from connections. Lite Visions Landscape Lighting cares first and foremost about building client relationships because we are passionate about our long lasting and worry free lighting designs.
LED lights “are on track to cut power consumption for lighting… by over 40 percent.” That would provide annual savings of more than $20 billion for consumers and businesses within a decade. And that in turn would reduce U.S. CO2 emissions by some 100 million metric tons a year.
Money Saving:
As LED Lamps are long lasting ,avg lamp life of 50,000 hours the saving alone on not having to relamp every year or so over the lifetime of outdoor lighting is a huge savings itself.
Little to no heat:
Led lamps produce little to no heat and therefore do not attract insects or pose any risk of hazards that hot halogen lamps could produce when surrounded by mulch and pine straw etc.
Less power consumption:
Led lamps will cost you way less to leave your outdoor lighting system on from dusk to dawn then if you were just using your lighting from dusk till midnight. I personally hate giving money to the power company.
High Quality LED bulbs:
Poor quality, cheap lamps don’t last long. My experience is that if you install quality lamps they do last. Some of my LED bulbs are more than 8 years old and still going strong.
Most landscape lighting customers quickly understand the benefits of converting from halogen to LED, lighting professionals say.
For example, most LEDs have a five-year manufacturer warranty.
Voltage drop:
Most old, all halogen lamped systems installed have some sort of voltage issues, when retrofitting with LED lamps most of these systems that might have a 300 to 100 watt transformer will have their total power consumption lowered to less than half.

SECURITY: It’s a proven fact that a well-lit landscape will deter potential intruders by eliminating dark areas and shadows that would conceal movement around the property.
