Landscape Lighting Design for Budleigh
Budleigh is an established inside-the-Beltline neighborhood between Glenwood Avenue, Wade Avenue and Oberlin Road, minutes from Five Points and the Village District (formerly Cameron Village). Once farmland and woodlots along Beaverdam Creek, it grew after the mid-20th century, and many of its original ranch homes have since been expanded or rebuilt. Winding streets follow the rise and fall of the land under a canopy of mature trees.
At Lite Visions, we don’t install outdoor lighting.
We compose with light.
Joe Yanulevich is an artist with light: a Raleigh native and a 35-year concert and stage lighting veteran. Lite Visions has lit homes in Budleigh, and the photos on this page come from that work.

Designed for Budleigh’s Trees and Terrain
Homes in Budleigh often feature:
- Mature shade trees and established gardens
- Front yards that rise or fall from the street
- Stone walls, steps and walkways
- A mix of renovated mid-century homes and newer custom builds
A sloped yard gives you layers: the street, the bank, the steps and the house above. Light it evenly and it goes flat. Light it in layers, with one specimen tree glowing, a soft wash on the stonework and a quiet path to the door, and the whole property gains depth.
A Composer’s Approach: Visionettes
We design in small, intentional scenes we call “Visionettes,†composed to be enjoyed from:
- Inside the home, looking out
- Front porches and back patios
- The sidewalk and the approach to the door
Stage lighting taught Joe that depth comes from contrast. On close-in lots, that restraint matters to the neighbors too: fixtures are hidden, beams are shielded, and old trees get fixtures placed to respect their roots.

Soft, Warm and Built to Last
Our systems are built around:
- Warm 2700K color temperature
- High CRI lighting for natural, accurate color
- Precision aiming and glare control
- Solid brass fixtures and integrated LEDs, with clean, concealed wiring
The best lighting is felt, not seen.
Protecting the Design: the Lighting Preservation Program
Landscapes keep growing after the lights go in. Our Lighting Preservation Program brings us back to your Budleigh property once or twice a year to clean, re-aim and fine-tune every scene, so the design keeps looking the way it did on the first night.
