There are technicians, and there are artists – and Joe is an artist. We live on a large wooded lot and recently did a major house remodel which required pulling up a lot of our existing lighting that was over 15 years old. Joe was recommended to us and once we became aware of his background in theatrical lighting and got a Iook at his website we couldn’t wait to work with him. Joe came out on a Saturday and did a complete and thorough walk around of our lot, asking questions about what we wanted and also making suggestions. We do one thing and excel at it, Landscape Lighting. Do you believe one person can do 5-7 things and be and excel at all those things?  Hardscapes, Landscapes, Mulch, Ponds, Fences, Tree Trimming, oh and we can also do lighting, lol. I see trucks in Luxury neighborhoods daily when out working and laugh to myself, because I see what those guys are installing.

They find the cheapest thinnest fixtures they can purchase,bulbs included and install them for the low price they add onto the 15-30,000 hardscape or landscape project they installed. Sad thing is that the client will have no idea until they are long gone and the year warranty is long gone as well. Some lighting manufacture had them attend a half day class and they are suddenly lighting experts.

Professional landscape lighting involves a well thought out design that the clients can look out of their home and enjoy as well as the lighting can be viewed by neighbors riding by. I have to educate clients every day of the week as to proper landscape lighting designs as so many of these companies stick one light on one tree that is not a good tree to be illuminated.

Trees that look magical at night when illuminated properly with landscape lighting are Crepe Myrtles, Japanese Maples, River Birches, Dogwoods. Most builder trees are not trees that look at all good lit up. Architectural aspects of the home when properly illuminated should be softly illuminated between brick or stone facades and not have lights placed directly under windows which can create a hot spot and a ghoulish effect.

 

I come from a concert and theatrical stage lighting background and see so many horrible lighting jobs that clients paid good money for. It only takes a few minutes of walking or riding around looking at such jobs to make most clients realize the bad lighting that is all around them, including two new things builders are guilty of. permanent holiday lighting and soffit lighting in the homes peaks which creates bright hot spots with horrible glare at night.

You paid alot of money for your forever home and landscaping and you need to educate yourself on the differences in not good and good lighting.

Yes, you can go with the low price leader for any type of home improvements, but I get the phone calls when those systems that are not wired properly or put together cheaply fail and we ,as most companies don’t work on those type systems as its usually just a band aid till the next failure happens.

Value vs low price=  quality small company who does one thing and does it correctly vs a company doing quantity installs for a quick buck to add onto their other project they made their profit on.

In July this year Lite Visions won several award winning lighting designs when we attended the annual Sterling landscape lighting summit in Danville Virginia. We learned about new products to incorporate into our eye catching landscape lighting designs that elevate our clients property and also in our lighting design challenge we got to put them to use over a three day period. Janet Lennox Moyer a renowned lighting designer and Eleftheria Deko, who has won many many awards for her stunning lighting designs https://edeko.gr/  Eleftheria lit the Olympics in Greece as well as the Acropolis and many other lighting design projects and her and Jan were the judges for our landscape lighting challenge this year. Our project near the lake was a huge area and our team took the challenge and not only worked right up till the last second making adjustments, but were able to capture our entire project reflecting in the lakes surface. It was a moment to remember when our project ,which was the last to be unveiled was switched on. Not only did our team win one ,but three awards this year. Thanks to Sterling lighting for their landscape lighting fixtures and to the beautiful venue in Danville and Averett university for once again hosting our annual summit. Coming from my concert and stage lighting background ,I enjoy meeting and collaborating with lighting designers from all over the USA during the lighting summit. I have been in the music industry, working as a roadie, lighting technician, and lighting designer for many years. I quickly learned that I wanted to be working with bigger and better lighting equipment, so I had to be constantly learning and improving. I was lucky enough to go from club bands work on huge arena tours,starting in 84 going from Kool and the Gang to many country acts as well as WWF wrestling.

With this lengthy experience, I was able to open my own landscape lighting design company a few years ago. Since then, I have been fortunate to have mentors in the field of architectural and landscape lighting, who have illuminated Oprah’s home, designer Valentino’s estate, the acropolis in Greece and more. My desire and passion is to be creative, and to create a atmosphere for my lighting design clients to relax and enjoy in the evenings.

At Lite Visions Landscape Lighting, I do not believe in a “cookie cutter” approach. I strive to think outside the box, and to see things that aren’t yet there. I take pride in the fact that I can create a unique and beautiful atmosphere for my clients which is tailored to their needs and desires.

Joe is a Creative Lighting Designer, Not Just a Technician

Joe is a Creative lighting designer, technician and an artist, which is what sets lite visions landscape lighting apart from others. We had a large wooded lot and recently remodeled our house, which meant we had to replace our lighting that was over 15 years old. Joe came out on a Saturday and discussed what we wanted and also offered suggestions. We found him to be friendly, down-to-earth, and trustworthy, so we gave him the freedom to completely redo the lighting. Joe’s “soft palette” of light fills the space and creates a picture that is calming and pleasant to the eye. He followed up two nights in a row to make sure we were pleased with the results and we are very satisfied with the outcome. Not only is Joe an artist, but he is also an incredibly nice person to work with and we highly recommend him.

 

Joe, an artist of light, has replaced our commonplace driveway path lights with downlights in trees, creating a romantic, delicate atmosphere around our residence. Now, he is formulating plans to illuminate the front entry and parking area of Phase II of our landscaping project. His work speaks to his brilliance and expertise!

Not far from our house, our driveway curves through the woods. Joe came to our place about 10 days ago and attentively heard our plans. From the start, it was clear that Joe is a talent when it comes to lighting and we put our confidence in his skill and imagination in outlining and executing a captivating lighting design.

We are elated with the outcome! Joe was devoted to our project and was a great pleasure to work with- our property has been significantly improved and we celebrated our first evening with our new lighting scheme last night.

The addition of color in the forest really added life to it and was something we looked forward to using during parties and BBQs. Joe was quick, efficient and cleaned up after completion. He also added a rose filter to the Japanese Maple light to enhance the color and diffusion filters to reduce glare. We got to hear amazing stories from his concert days too! And for the same price as the competition, we got a wide variety of lights perfectly suited to the project, excellent service, and the assurance that the lights will not suddenly stop working due to a poor install.

We are beyond impressed with the work that Joe and Lite Visions did on our front yard landscape lighting! It was desperately in need of replacing and now looks absolutely fabulous. Joe is an expert in his field and offers so much more than your standard landscape lighting. The quality of the lights he uses is truly remarkable and he even gave us a demonstration to show us exactly what we were getting. His installation was flawless and professional. We can’t wait to have him work on our backyard as well! We are so thankful for Joe and his company!

Joe from Lite Visions was very professional when installing our driveway lighting, taking our preferences into account and making sure that everything was to our satisfaction. His work has been a great improvement on our 175′ long driveway, as it is now illuminated in an artistic way, bringing out the beauty of the hardwood trees.
