Estate Landscape Lighting for Greenville, NC

Greenville is the largest city in eastern North Carolina, home to East Carolina University and the ECU Health medical campus. Around it are some of the finest residential settings in the region: custom estates on one to five acres, homes set far back from the road behind mature trees, and lake lots just outside town. In Greenville, a fine home often comes with far more land than the same home would in Raleigh, and that land is what makes landscape lighting here so rewarding.

At Lite Visions, landscape lighting in Greenville, NC, starts with design. The goal is to make your property feel like a painting after dark, not a parking lot.

From New Bern and Trent Woods to Greenville

Lite Visions is based in Raleigh and serves Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and beyond. In recent years, “beyond” has come to include eastern North Carolina. Homeowners in New Bern and Trent Woods asked Joe Yanulevich to make the drive and design their properties, and you can see that work on our New Bern and Trent Woods page. Greenville is about an hour’s drive from New Bern, roughly 45 miles by road, and Joe would love to bring the same approach to Greenville’s finest neighborhoods.

Joe Yanulevich spent more than 35 years lighting concert and theatrical stages before he brought that craft to residential landscapes. On a stage, light decides what the audience sees and what stays in shadow, and the dark spaces are what give the lit ones their drama. His work is featured in the book Masters of Landscape Lighting, alongside designers recognized for what the craft can be at its best.

Lighting an Estate: Approach, Trees and Setback

On a large property, the evening starts at the road. The long approach, the specimen trees along it and the distance between the street and the front door are the story, and the house is the last scene, not the first. Lighting requires darkness, so we light in a rhythm: a tree on the left, then the right, then the left again, so your eye moves in and out of the dark as you drive in.

  • Warm 2700K light only, the color of candlelight and lamplight, never harsh blue-white
  • Lower lumens and more fixtures, so a big oak looks three-dimensional instead of flattened by one floodlight
  • Moonlighting from high in mature trees, so soft leaf shadows fall across the drive and lawn
  • Fixtures shielded and aimed into the landscape, respectful of neighbors and the night sky
  • Open lawns and woods left dark, so the lit trees around them have depth

Greenville Neighborhoods We’d Love to Light

Two Greenville neighborhoods stand out for true estate properties. Star Hill Farm is a community of custom estates on one to five acres, some bordering the course at Greenville Country Club. Rock Springs pairs estate homes on large wooded lots, five acres or more on its estate side, with walking and riding trails. We also serve the surrounding area, including Winterville and the rest of Pitt County.

A Designer Who Does the Work Himself

Every project starts with a daytime design consultation. Joe walks the grounds with you in daylight to see where the trees, the approach and the views are, and how you use the property. He designs every job himself, and after installation he returns after dark to make the final adjustments to each fixture’s angle and brightness. Lite Visions is locally owned, it isn’t a franchise, and lighting is all we do.

For homes with smart-home systems, we’re glad to coordinate lighting control with your integrator. Greenville’s own Electronic Solutions worked alongside us on a recent Trent Woods home.
