Considering Landscape Lighting? What to Ask Before Hiring a Landscape Lighting Company

Are you considering landscape lighting for your home or property? It pays to do some research before hiring a landscape lighting company. A few simple questions can help you find the right fit.

What should you ask a lighting company?

  • Is outdoor lighting the main focus of the business?
  • Do the photos on the website show the company’s own work?
  • What fixtures, wire and connections will they use?
  • Do they understand lighting design, not just installation?
  • How long have they been in business, and what do reviews say?

Why do we show only our own work?

At Lite Visions Landscape Lighting, we prefer to showcase our own projects. You can trust that the lighting on our website reflects the quality we provide.

Lighting is our focus, not an add-on service. We use professional-grade products and follow the principles of good lighting design. Our signature look is warm 2700K light, soft and low, with no glare.

Who designs your lighting?

Joe, the owner, is a Raleigh native and a local homeowner. He brings 35+ years of concert and theatrical lighting to every design. His work has earned Masters of Landscape Lighting recognition.

When Joe left touring, he studied landscape lighting in depth. He learned from respected lighting designers around the world. He personally handles the design, so every detail is right.

Every project begins with a daytime consultation. After installation, Joe returns at night to fine-tune each fixture.

How do we care for the environment?

  • We recycle old wiring, transformers and fixtures we remove from older systems.
  • We use the lowest light levels needed, which keeps operating costs down.
  • We follow dark-sky-friendly practices. Shields, louvers and careful placement reduce glare and light spill.

What should you look for at night?

Take a drive through a few neighborhoods after dark. Really notice the outdoor lighting you see.

Some homes are lit very brightly. Some trees have just one light on them. Some path lights lean or lie on the ground. Compare those with homes that feel soft, layered and balanced. You will quickly see the difference good design makes.
